In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, pledging to transform the world and seeking to pursue 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Focusing on people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership, the declaration includes goals related to all spheres of economic, environmental, social and political development. Its ambitious targets can only be addressed by a combined effort of the public, private, and social sectors, and should be supported by the global business community.
All 17 Goals are relevant to business. Business is a vital stakeholder in achieving most the 169 targets, either directly or indirectly, by reducing their negative impacts and providing solutions that create positive impacts.
As a cross-cutting theme, all taskforces and action council will, in one way or another, take the SDGs into consideration in their policy recommendations.
